We had our harvest assemblies today in KS1 & KS2. There was lots of great singing and a wonderful amount of food collected for the food bank.

Our new foundation stage children have now been at school for 2 weeks and have made a great start with their learning!

The children have learnt their first sounds, putting them on course to become independent readers and writers via our new Little Wandle Letters and Sounds phonics scheme and have been working on their subitising skills in maths.

The children have been introduced to the school code of conduct and are learning to represent their school by sharing and taking turns, being caring and thoughtful to their reception friends and adults, being respectful to others by listening carefully and considering the choices they make whilst learning through play.

The children have started their John Bunyan Primary journey by enjoying the story ‘The colour monster’ which helps them to recognise their own feelings through linking those feelings to a colour. The children have considered when they have felt the emotions detailed in the book and have commented that they feel calm when they play with their toys: Anger when others do not share with them; Sad when they miss their adults; Happy when someone asks them to be friends; Fear when they don’t want to be alone and love when they are with their adults at home.

Our challenge was to decipher the semaphore message.

The girls football team played their last match on Friday against Notley. They played really well as a team and won 9-0.

Special mention to Rosie who scored 5!
